COVID-19 WORKSITE SPECIFIC PLAN for Sunday Morning

ENHANCED SANITATION MEASURES:

I am by nature a close contact service, so in addition to the strict sanitation measures already mandated by the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology, I will be taking the following additional measures to ensure that Sunday Morning is a safe and healthy environment for everyone who comes here. Compliance with the measures below is required without exception in order to be admitted to the salon and receive services:

  • SANITATION:

All armrests, doorknobs, salon furniture, fixtures, and touched surfaces will be sanitized in between clients. The air purification system will be running, and the HVAC will be on, with the screen door open, to circulate fresh air. Styling capes are never reused in between clients (same as it has always been).

  • MASKING:

Masking in the salon is optional for both myself and clients. I would not make masking optional if I did not think I could do so and keep my most vulnerable clients protected.

I am lifting masking requirements on the following conditions:

    • Covid is not returned to a state of emergency.

    • The numbers continue to indicate low hospitalization and death rates from the current strain. Link here for the latest data: *Source: http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/coronavirus/data/

    • Effective treatments and vaccines continue to be readily available.

    • Levels of population immunity continue to be high due to either having Covid or being vaccinated.

    • I continue to work alone, one client at a time, to minimize the risk of cross exposure from multiple unmasked people in the space.

    • The space continues to be very well ventilated, with the screen door open to the garden at all times, and the air purified between and during appointments.

    • The efficacy of KF-94/K95 masks remain effective to protect from exposure from an unmasked person for longer than the duration of an appointment (see below), so that I know higher risk clients choosing to wear a mask are protected.

    • Persons exhibiting signs of illness, or actively sick, will not be admitted to the space.

    • Persons who are not sick but are experiencing allergies must mask. KF-94 minimum.

    • Persons who are not sick but have someone in their household who is sick with a cold must mask. KF-94 minimum.

    • Persons who are not sick but have someone in their household who has Covid, the flu, or RSV must reschedule their appointment.

In the realization that there will never be a day where Covid risk no longer exists, and the knowledge that perpetual isolation is not sustainable or possible, I am assessing how to proceed in this new world (as I am sure you all are too).  It is a process of continually analyzing the data available to us to determine where measures have become performative vs. where measures are necessary. My approach is to prioritize the most vulnerable who may come to my space in balance with the practical reality of being alive. If any of these conditions change, the policy will change as well to meet the needs of the community and the times.

  • CONTROLLED ENTRY PROCEDURE:

Text me upon arrival and wait in your car. I will text you in once the space has been cleaned and sanitized, and is ready.

  • YOU MUST RESCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT IF:

    • You have or recently had Covid-19 and/or are still testing positive. You must be testing negative again before coming, even if you are feeling better and it is past the 5 day CDC quarantine period.

    • You are actively experiencing symptoms of Covid-19, or any other illness, including a common cold. (Note that your appointment must be rescheduled if you are experiencing symptoms, even if you have tested negative for Covid-19).

    • Someone in your household is sick with Covid, RSV, or the flu. Even if you are not testing positive, you must reschedule.

    • If someone in your household is sick with a cold or mild illness that is NOT Covid, but you are not sick or exhibiting any symptoms, or if you are experiencing what you know is just allergies, you may keep your appointment, but please wear a KF-94 mask during your service.)

  • LIABILITY RELEASE:

You agree to the following by coming to your appointment: “I am aware that despite all of the safety precautions being taken, coming to this appointment does not eliminate risk of exposure to Covid-19 or other illness. I feel comfortable to attend my appointment, agree to assume all risk, and indemnify Sunday Morning and Courtney Rice from any liability arising from this risk.”

Note that if you are immunocompromised, or the caretaker for an immunocompromised or elderly person, it is not recommended that you visit the studio at this time.

  • SOCIAL DISTANCING, AIR PURIFICATION, AND SALON ENVIRONMENT:

The following measures are also being taken to maximize safety within the salon environment:

    • I will only see one client in the space at time so you will not be exposed to any other clients during your appointment. (Members of the same household may come in together).

    • The salon is equipped with an air purification system sized to exchange the air every 3-10 minutes. In combination, the HVAC is always running to clean and circulate the air, and the door to the garden is always left open (no matter how hot or cold it is outside) to ensure fresh air circulation.

    • Appointments may take place outside in my studio garden, light and weather permitting. (Note: If you are uncomfortable indoors and elect to have your service outside, note that you may need to come indoors for parts of your services such as shampoo, the dryer ring/hood, and checkout. The shampoo bowl is located directly next to the open door into the garden. Additionally, shampoo, checkout, and sitting under the radiant heat dryer generally require less than 15 minutes of being indoors at a time).

  • VACCINATION STATUS:

I have been fully vaccinated and am current on all boosters.

  • JOHNS HOPKINS CERTIFICATION:

I have taken a 9-hour online certification course with Johns Hopkins University to learn about the disease and its transmission as a measure to educate myself in order to better keep my clients safe, and demonstrate to my clients how seriously I take that responsibility. Certification is posted below.

  • BARBICIDE CERTIFICATION:

I have taken a 1-hour course with Barbicide, to ensure that I know proper sanitation procedures to kill COVID-19. Certification is posted below. Barbicide is EPA certified to kill Covid-19, and is the virucide I use to sanitize tools and surfaces in between clients.

No quarantine on listening to music or generating good vibes though! Thank you for helping me care for our community!
